I hate breaking news. They make my blood go cold for a milisecond, and then the apathy starts to sink in. But when Geo TV announced
this news story as breaking news, I went quiet inside.
All five have the right to appeal their sentences. The final word will rest with Musharraf himself.
Thank you for confirming that Musharraf is now officially our God.
“I cannot say where the case was tried,” the military spokesman added. “They were tried under the relevant provisions of law.”
WHAT relevant provisions? WHERE were they tried? Musharraf seems to have learnt well from Ayub Khan, Z.A. Bhutto and Zia ul Haq. Why doesn't anyone ever ask what happens in Attock Fort and in the dungeons of the Lahore Fort?
While KO's article (linked in previous post) says it all, there has to be something wrong that one starts shivering inside and imagines what could happen if MQM wins this time around? The billboards dotted around Karachi scare me to no extent. Although I've been informed last night from an anonymous source that PPP
is going to win. Not that they're going to do anything for Karachi either, but at this point, anyone, even the horrid MMA would be better than the MQM.
Should be an interesting election.
Muahahah.
Okay, its mean to laugh, I know. But since the story broke on
Geo TV at 5 PM PST, I have not stopped giggling inside.
Pakistan's opposition leader, firebrand cleric Fazal-ur-Rehman, said on Monday he was returning home after authorities at Dubai airport refused him transit to Saudi Arabia and threatened him with deportation. Speaking to a private tv channel from Dubai, he said he did not know why the United Arab Emirates had barred him, but he had decided to return to Pakistan."First, they told us we can proceed and they stamped (the transit visa). Then they said you should wait and we are waiting, but I have decided to go back to Pakistan." Pakistan's information minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, said the opposition leader was expected to return on Tuesday morning. "He has been black-listed by the UAE immigration officials and, according to our information, he is being deported," the minister told Reuters, but he was unable to shed any light on why Rehman was not welcome in the country.

DawnThe MMA leaders are, as expected, outraged. Too bad they can't blame the Western world for this, since UAE is a Muslim nation. Muahahahhaha.
